FROM KAYA TO KASHMIR
Deal Grocer is this group buying site that I love just a
little above the rest.
Save perhaps Beeconomic.com.ph’s refund-option, Dealgrocer.com has to be the best one in the lot.
Today, May 31, is the last day of many of my vouchers, and
sad to say, we won’t be able to use them all. So, from the children's waitress-duty at Friday's Galleria, we travelled all the way to the Fort.
Forget Emphasis Salon, for the eyebrows trimming and that
gelato place in Green Hills, will have to wait till next offer. C’est la vie!
... no need for introduction. I bet y’all
know what this place is.
Import from Singapore, this place sells designer
toasted bread,
with the world-famous kaya
spread. Ala carte toast start at
Php 68.00.
Chocolate, Floss (pretty kids in Friday's outfits, not included in the price)
French Toast, but of course!
Before Toast Box, that was the only designer toast on our record...
Breakfast Set (Toast, 2 soft boiled eggs, and a choice of teh or kopi).
Break the eggs, and serve, like so.
If there's a designer toast, certainly, there's also designer
Milo Dinosaur, for Php 115...
While I do not know why it's called that, this kid, just had to have it.
The other one is crazy about tea, well, teh...
It's the same kid who is fond of High Tea @ The Peninsula Hotel!
This is what happens when you give too much sugar and chocolate to a child...
Or caffeine, for the that matter...
Yup, all gone in less than 30 minutes…
While the toast are for the kids, these noodles are for Mom and Dad!
Love Nonya laksa! Love, love! It's Php 215
for a set meal, comes with either Lemon Iced Tea, or Ice-cold Barley
(Add 30 pesos for iced tea).
What is barley?
Well, it looks like an oatmeal drink, see that white drink down there?
On the right of the Dashing Dad?
Like Father, Like Daughter... I said, 'No elbows on the table!'
Dashing Dad ignores my text, 'What happened to the other noodles?'
The overpriced Fish Ball soup, Php 180.00. I categorically state that it is overpriced because it tastes nothing notable. It is easily nothing special compared to the Laksa. Completely forgettable, this one.
And this one, too. Mee something, Php 230.00 So, so.
When one has to travel all the way to The Fort, from Green Hills, food should at least taste better than the one from Le Ching or Luk Yuen. Good thing, half of its cost is covered by Dealgrocer.com. Still, we're definitely coming back - I am pretty sure of it!
There aren't that many good places for laksa on this side of Asia =( So thumbs up to Toast Box, for having this delish dish, in addition to their exceptional toasts.
Trying to spoon out the ice, and what remains of the Milo Dinosaur,
BTW, The teh is so, so worth going back for...
Stay happy, stay true, The Mom!
PS. That is the Black Coffee for Php P115.00.
You would be happier with the teh, I guarantee it.
And that, my goodness, is the butter, the margarin... ouch!

MOM's APPROVAL: Why would you want to eat here?
1. Because the Toasts are exceptional, the Kaya Toast is out-of-this-country, literally, 2. The Laksa is so worth the trip from Green Hills, and it is better than any where else
for it's price (hey, I can cook this from scratch you know!)
3. And the teh, is pulled just right. It won't give you stomach ache, even if you gulped all of it in less than ten minutes. Though that would be overdoing it. Take it with the Toast (set meal), the price (Php 98.00), is easily justified.
I know, some would say, but it's just toast. Yes, well, some people prefer toast over tapsilog on some days. Just try it, once, and you would easily get hooked. I promise you.

As soon as we received our teh take-out - yes, for some reason, I was persuaded by the little one - we drove to Pasay Road, to Kashmir.
Dashing Dad was complaining about being too full to eat some more. The kids, too, have declared, 'No more room for meals.'
See, now, the kids, I believe. But the Dad? He'll have to get passed the curry-addiction test, then I will believe!
Neon lights = Northwestern Indian food? Well, I like it.
Obviously, Zahnina likes the decor and the lighting.
The 120-square rest isn't really yellow all over; it's to do with our camera setting.
Beef Curry Php 380 ++
I had no idea it was so soupy.
I don't recall it looking like this, last time I ate here =(
It's a soupy korma, but then, see below, is how it should look like.
The samosas for Php 120 =) Always a great thing to have.
You can get these samosas to go from Salcedo Weekend Market
and frozen from Kashmir outlet in Rustan's Supermarket - Makati.
We look forward doing groceries there just so we could buy these authentic fried delights.
The place photographs well, don't you think? Well, it didn't hurt that the sisters
photograph pretty darn well =)
Zahnina memorizing how to decorate a tiny, low-ceilinged bathroom.
We've always wanted one of those sinks that stick out.
I wonder if they require incredibly high maintenance... splatters and all, I mean.
We literally ate and ran afterwards...
Yep, I think we prefer Indian food, that is we enjoy it better, outdoors, in the market place. Like the Salcedo Weekend Market =) See you there, Kashmir.
Mommy Rating: I'm not coming back here again with my kids. That's for sure.
Zoe has high appreciation for fine china and well-put-together ambiance,
while Zahnina appreciates excellent plating. My kids... awww.
They would have liked the food and the ambiance of Prince of Jaipur, you know same place at The Fort now occupied by Katsu and Craft?
